National Museum of Flight

National Museum of Flight is Scotland’s national aviation museum at the historic East Fortune Airfield in East Lothian. Its public hangars and grounds present more than 50 aircraft and aerospace stories, including the Concorde Experience, Boeing 707, civil- and military-aviation galleries, Fantastic Flight interactive exhibits, the de Havilland Comet and an Avro Vulcan bomber. The museum also interprets East Fortune’s wartime airfield and the 1919 R34 first Britain-to-United States transatlantic flight, with hands-on galleries, talks and learning programmes. National Museums Scotland currently lists opening hours of 10:00–17:00 daily from April through October, with last entry at 16:00, and weekends only from 10:00–16:00 November through March, with last entry at 15:00; it is closed December 25, December 26, January 1 and January 2. Current ticket prices are £15 advance or £16 on the day for adults, £13/£14 for over-65s, £12/£13 for students, unemployed visitors, disabled visitors and Young Scot cardholders, £10/£11 for children ages 5–15, and free for children under 5, members, National Art Pass holders and an accompanying essential carer. Tickets can be booked up to six weeks in advance, and visitors present their timed-entry ticket or order number at the entrance barrier. This is a large historic airfield: access differs by building and grounds, with accessible parking at no charge, ramped or level access in some galleries, loan wheelchairs and sensory backpacks; assistance dogs are welcome, non-assistance dogs are allowed outdoors on leads, and stairs are required to board Concorde, Comet and Boeing 707.
