National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, Georgia, opened to the public in May 1996 and preserves the story of the Eighth Air Force from World War II to the present through original aircraft, mission exhibits, archives, oral histories, immersive interpretation, Memorial Garden and more than 90,000 square feet of exhibits, interactive experiences, artifacts and aviation art. Its Combat Gallery includes the B-17 Flying Fortress City of Savannah under restoration, the nose section of the B-24 Liberator Fightin’ Sam and a Boeing-Stearman PT-17; outdoor displays include an F-4C Phantom and MiG-17A, while a B-47 Stratojet stands in the Memorial Garden. The operator’s current visitor guidance lists public hours Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–17:00 and Sunday 12:00–17:00; the museum is closed Mondays and on New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Exhibits and locations are wheelchair accessible, with wheelchairs and scooters available first-come, first-served. Current admission is $13 for adults, $12 for seniors 60+, $10 for retired military, $9 for active-duty military or spouses, $8 for active-duty children, and $9 for children ages 6–12; children under 6 and World War II veterans enter free, military discounts require ID, and listed prices include state taxes.
