National Museum of the United States Air Force

The National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio traces its origins to 1923 and presents more than 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles plus thousands of artifacts across more than 19 indoor acres, chronological galleries, the Air Park and Memorial Park. Current visitor hours are 09:00–17:00 daily; admission and visitor parking are free. The museum closes on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The 8th Air Force Control Tower and Nissen Hut in the Air Park are closed until further notice. Free daily gallery tours last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and do not require registration; the Air Force Museum Theatre and flight simulators charge separately. Visitors should expect metal-detector and bag screening; weapons, alcohol, coolers and outside food or drink other than a clear sealed water bottle up to 20 ounces are prohibited. A limited supply of free wheelchairs, motorized carts and strollers is available first-come, first-served at the Entrance Hall Mobility Station. The museum is entered from Springfield Street at historic Wright Field (Gate 28B), six miles northeast of Dayton. Free on-site parking includes four electric-vehicle charging stations and space for oversized vehicles such as motorhomes and school buses. The Greater Dayton RTA X6 serves the museum seven days a week from 08:45 to 17:15, and RTA Connect On-Demand is also available.
