Onsala Space Observatory

Onsala Space Observatory is Sweden's national infrastructure for radio astronomy and geodesy, operated by Chalmers University of Technology on behalf of the Swedish Research Council. It operates multiple radio telescopes and supports Earth and space research about 45 kilometres south of Gothenburg. Visits are prebooked only: weekday guided tours for schools and groups normally last about two hours, while public access is through scheduled events and chartered transport; the observatory is otherwise closed to the general public. The area is legally restricted, mobile phones and other radio transmitters are prohibited, and there is no café or restaurant. Check Chalmers' current visitor page and booking form before travelling.
