Pico dos Dias Observatory

Pico dos Dias Observatory is Brazil's principal optical observing site, operated by the National Astrophysics Laboratory with research telescopes, instruments, training, and engineering infrastructure in the Serra da Mantiqueira. The current free guided-visit programme accepts schools, institutions, and small private or general-public groups on selected weekday daytime dates. Tours present the working installations, telescopes, instruments, history, and methods of professional observation; visitors do not observe through the research telescopes. Advance booking is required, and access remains subject to the published calendar, road and weather conditions, maintenance, and observatory operations.
