RAF Wickenby Memorial Collection

The RAF Wickenby Memorial Collection, presented as Wickenby Museum, preserves the wartime control-tower story of RAF Wickenby, home of Lancaster Squadrons 12 and 626 during the Second World War. Its memorial and archive commemorate the station’s personnel and more than 1,100 aircrew who failed to return, with uniforms, medals, photographs, logbooks, operations boards, radio and technical equipment, bomb-aiming artefacts and other 12/626 and Lancaster material. The collection remains in the original watch office above an active civilian aerodrome, linking the displays to surviving airfield buildings, the Wickenby memorial and current flying activity. The volunteer museum currently publishes free public visits from 10:00 to 16:00 Wednesday through Sunday, with archive research and large-group visits by appointment; the museum is upstairs and no detailed step-free provision is published, so confirm access arrangements and airfield visitor instructions before travel. Visitor address: The Control Tower, Wickenby Aerodrome, Langworth, near Lincoln LN3 5AX, United Kingdom.
