Rothney Astrophysical Observatory is the University of Calgary’s working dark-sky science facility in the foothills, supporting research telescopes, undergraduate training, school programs and public astronomy education. The site is open to the public only during scheduled programs or events, and public events are ticketed with a pre-purchased ticket required; do not arrive without one. Public observing events may be postponed for adverse weather. The rural site can have uneven ground, while the buildings are wheelchair-accessible and accessible parking is available near the Interpretive Centre. Check the University’s public-events page for current dates, ticket availability, weather updates and access instructions before travel.
