SAAO Cape Town Visitor Centre and Museum

SAAO Cape Town Visitor Centre and Museum is the public interpretation hub within the historic former Royal Observatory precinct. SAAO’s current visitor page offers booked Open Nights on the second and fourth Saturday each month at 20:00, with a presentation, guided visits to the historic Main and McClean buildings, museum and library, and weather-permitting stargazing through public telescopes; private night tours also visit the Visitor Centre and Museum. Open Nights cost R50 per person, with children under 6 free. Bookings must be paid in advance, vehicles enter from 19:30, and the secure site keeps other buildings off limits; Open Nights target ages 12 and over.
