San Diego Air & Space Museum’s Gillespie Field Annex in El Cajon is a distinct public exhibit, storage and restoration facility at the northeastern corner of Gillespie Field. Visitors can view military jets, private sport aircraft and small racing planes, including the S-3 Viking, P2 Neptune and Baron Hilton’s Staggerwing, alongside open-hangar displays and volunteer restoration projects. The facility is open Wednesday–Sunday 09:00–16:00. Admission is $12 for general visitors ages 12 and up, $10 for seniors, $6 for children under 12 and free for children under 2. Parking is available for cars and motorcycles; buses and RVs should contact the museum in advance. Service animals are the only animals permitted inside; the museum provides an outside area for leashed dogs and other animals. A gift shop, snacks and drinks are available, and the restoration shop can build authentic reproductions while repairing historic aircraft.
