Santiago Ground Station

Santiago Ground Station is SSC Space’s operational satellite ground station north of Santiago in Chile’s Metropolitan Region. SSC says the site was first established to support the Apollo missions and now operates multiple telemetry, tracking and command antennas with S-band uplink and downlink, an operations building for receiving, processing, recording and monitoring, and a 13.5-metre antenna supporting lunar services in both S- and X-band. The 100-hectare site also hosts customer antennas and baseband equipment, offers LEOP, on-orbit, lunar, optical and hosting services, and uses UPS and diesel backup plus a large solar array. Its foothill setting at 723.4 metres provides natural protection against man-made electromagnetic interference. This is controlled commercial communications infrastructure rather than a public visitor destination: SSC publishes no routine walk-in programme, so arrange access with the operator and verify current local permissions before field planning.
