Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory

Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory is Azerbaijan's principal astronomical research observatory and a public stargazing destination in the Pirgulu mountain area. Official excursions introduce visitors to the site's Astronomy Museum and telescope complex, including the region's large two-metre telescope. Azerbaijan's national tourism authority also documents museum visits and after-dark observing, allowing the active research campus to serve as a durable astronomy-heritage and public-learning destination.
