Shearwater Aviation Museum

Shearwater Aviation Museum at 12 Wing Shearwater preserves and interprets Canadian maritime military aviation and the history of the air station. Its collection includes Fairey Swordfish and CH-124 Sea King helicopters, aircraft, engines, uniforms, naval-aviation artefacts, a research library and archives, an art gallery, theatre and flight simulator. Permanent exhibits include Lieutenant Hampton Gray, VC, and HMCS Bonaventure, Canada’s last aircraft carrier, with a reconstruction of the carrier’s briefing room. The operator currently lists summer visiting hours from June 1 through August 31 as Monday-Friday 10:00-17:00 and Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays 12:00-16:00; booked tours and programs can be arranged by appointment, and seasonal hours may change.
