Solway Aviation Museum

Solway Aviation Museum is a volunteer-run aviation heritage museum beside Carlisle Airport, preserving Britain’s early-jet and Cold War aviation story through more than twenty aircraft, indoor and outdoor displays, restoration projects and historical artefacts. The collection includes the Avro Vulcan XJ823, English Electric Canberra, Lightning, Phantom, Jaguar, Meteor, Fairey Gannet, Trident, helicopters and other military aircraft; visitors can access the Vulcan, Canberra and Percival Sea Prince cockpits where conditions permit. Indoor exhibits add aircraft technology, models, parts, memorabilia and ejector seats, while ongoing restoration and vehicle displays connect the collection to the wider airfield story. Seasonal public opening and individual cockpit/tour access follow the operator’s current notice, so check before travel.
