South African Astronomical Observatory

South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) is South Africa’s national optical and infrared astronomy facility, headquartered at the historic Royal Observatory site in Cape Town. Its Visitor Centre and Museum interpret the observatory’s heritage, historic McClean telescope and astronomy in South Africa, while public open nights and guided tours offer presentations and stargazing through dedicated outreach telescopes.
