South Dakota Air and Space Museum is the United States Air Force field museum outside the main gate of Ellsworth Air Force Base in Box Elder, preserving South Dakota and Cold War aerospace history through four indoor galleries and more than 30 aircraft, bombers, missiles and artifacts. Its collection and grounds include examples such as B-29, B-36, B-52 and B-1 bombers, Titan I and Minuteman missiles, and other military and civilian aerospace displays; the current Air Force account reports 33 aircraft across indoor and outdoor exhibits. The museum is free, with interior hours and Air Park access subject to current operator guidance; base tours and entry conditions remain mission- and security-dependent.
