Space Launch Complex 40

Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is an operational SpaceX Falcon 9 launch complex leased from the U.S. Space Force. The FAA’s 2025 final environmental decision covers increasing Falcon 9 launch opportunities from the previously analyzed 50 per year to up to 120, constructing a first-stage landing zone at SLC-40, and authorizing up to 34 booster landings there; other Falcon 9 boosters may land downrange on a drone ship. Space Launch Delta 45 supported the GPS III-8 Falcon 9 launch from SLC-40 on April 21, 2026. This is a secure launch facility, not a general walk-in visitor attraction; launch viewing and base access require approved Kennedy/Cape Canaveral arrangements and current mission safety guidance.
