Space Place at Carter Observatory

Space Place at Carter Observatory in Wellington is a Museums Wellington public astronomy centre combining a digital full-dome planetarium, live star talks, interactive galleries, Māori perspectives on the southern skies, New Zealand space history and the historic Thomas Cooke telescope. The current operator schedule lists term-time hours from 20 July to 25 September 2026 as Monday closed, Tuesday and Wednesday 17:00–22:30, Thursday 10:00–22:30, Friday and Saturday 10:00–23:00, and Sunday 10:00–17:00; school-holiday hours from 26 September to 11 October are Monday–Thursday 10:00–22:30, Friday and Saturday 10:00–23:00, and Sunday 10:00–17:00. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing and the last evening planetarium show starts at 20:00. Admission is NZ$16 for adults, NZ$14 for New Zealand students or Gold Card holders, NZ$10 for children aged 4–14, free for children aged 0–3, and NZ$49 for a family of two adults and two children.
