Stafford Air & Space Museum

Stafford Air & Space Museum, named for Weatherford-born Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Stafford, is a Smithsonian Affiliate tracing aviation and spaceflight from early flight through modern missions. Its current 75,000-square-foot exhibit complex presents General Stafford’s flown Gemini VI-A spacecraft and Apollo 10 pressure suit, an actual Titan II rocket, Apollo Command/Service and Lunar Module replicas, Apollo 11 F-1 hardware, a flown Shuttle main engine and solid-rocket-booster segment, and historic aircraft such as the F-86 Sabre, T-38 Talon, A-10, F-16, F-104 and MiG-21. Galleries cover General Stafford’s legacy, early aviation, rocket engines, space exploration, the Space Shuttle and modern aviation. The operator’s current plan-a-visit guidance lists Monday–Saturday hours of 09:00–17:00 and Sunday hours of 13:00–17:00, with 360 operating days per year and closure on New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Admission is $14 for adults ages 19–61, $8 for students ages 6–18, $12 for seniors 62+ and veterans, free for children 5 and under, members and active military; Weatherford Airport fly-ins are free. Free parking is available at 3000 Logan Road, Weatherford, Oklahoma 73096, at I-40 Exit 84 on Historic Route 66. Free guided tours are available on weekdays for groups of at least 10 with at least two weeks’ advance booking; self-guided visits are also available. Contact the museum at 580-772-5871.
