Stardome Observatory and Planetarium

Te Whatu Stardome Observatory & Planetarium is Auckland’s public astronomy destination in Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill Domain, pairing immersive planetarium shows, a hands-on Space Gallery and telescope viewing with astronomy and mātauranga Māori interpretation. Programmes and admission vary by show and date; book through the operator’s current listings, and remember that outdoor telescope viewing depends on the scheduled experience and conditions. Free parking is available outside Stardome or on Haydn Avenue. The entrance, planetarium and toilets are wheelchair accessible, with space for three wheelchairs in the planetarium; carers accompanying a visitor with a disability go free. The historic Zeiss telescope has stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. Te Whatu Stardome also publishes selected low-sensory and other accessible programmes, so contact the venue about current options.
