Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

The National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia is the Smithsonian’s companion facility near Dulles, displaying thousands of aviation and space artifacts in two vast hangars. Highlights include Space Shuttle Discovery, the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird and Concorde; the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar shows active conservation, while the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower, flight simulators, IMAX and interactive experiences extend the visit. The Smithsonian says the Center opened to the public in December 2003.
