Sutherland Planetarium is a private digital planetarium in the Karoo astronomy town of Sutherland and the only privately owned digital planetarium in South Africa. Its 30-seat dome presents full-dome astronomy shows, including programmes linking South African research to SALT and SKA. The site also offers evening stargazing through 11- and 14-inch telescopes, an astro-amphitheatre and smartphone astrophotography, making it a durable companion destination to the SAAO observatories. Show times, reservations, seasonal observing conditions and admission follow the operator; confirm before travel. Visitor location: Piet Retief Street, Sutherland 6920, South Africa.
