Sydney Observatory

Sydney Observatory is a historic public observatory on Gadigal land at Observatory Hill, operated by Powerhouse as a national place of connection and scientific research. The 1858 site combines heritage telescopes, astronomy and Sky Country interpretation, exhibitions and scheduled guided and family tours. Powerhouse currently lists the site for pre-booked tours and general admission, with guided tours generally Wednesday–Sunday; event times can change, and heritage conservation works may affect access. Tours include more than 100 stairs and narrow, steep staircases, so wheelchair users cannot access the tour areas; gardens and the ground floor of the Astronomer’s Residence provide wheelchair-accessible options.
