Tanegashima Space Center Space Museum

Tanegashima Space Center Space Museum is JAXA's free public museum at Japan's largest rocket-launch complex on Tanegashima. Its full-scale models, interactive games, immersive launch theater, Kibo mock-up, rocket and satellite exhibits and museum shop explain Japanese space development, launch vehicles, satellites, the International Space Station, Earth observation and astronomy. JAXA currently lists the Space Museum as open 09:30–16:30, normally closed Mondays (or Tuesdays after a Monday public holiday), with no closing days in August, and closed December 29–January 2; closing dates can change with rocket launch schedules. Opening days, admission, launch-facility bus tours and tour routes change with launch, test and weather conditions, so check JAXA's current notices; individual visits normally need no reservation, while groups of 10 or more and the guided bus tour require advance booking.
