Teide Observatory is IAC’s high-altitude Tenerife research site, specialising in solar astronomy while hosting optical, robotic, microwave-background, and atmospheric instruments. Visitor access is reservation-based rather than unrestricted walk-in: private and group tours visit selected telescope facilities, Spanish educational centres can request visits, and the IAC holds annual public open days. For 2026, the free Spanish-language open days on 20–21 June are listed as fully booked. The IAC also notes that educational visits are suspended December–March because of adverse weather; high-altitude conditions and active research operations can affect access. Confirm current booking, language, weather, road, and access conditions before travel.
