Travis Air Force Base Heritage Center at Building 80, 461 Burgan Boulevard, preserves Travis AFB and U.S. Air Force air-mobility history through indoor exhibits and 23 aircraft on display, including the B-29 Superfortress, B-52D Stratofortress and C-141 Starlifter. The museum and gift shop are open Tuesday-Sunday 10:00-16:00, closed Mondays and federal holidays; the museum asks visitors to call ahead and may close when temperatures exceed 100°F. Visitors without a DoD or military ID, and foreign nationals, must review current special base-entry requirements with the Visitor Control Center; once access is granted, a shuttle picks up visitors and they may not drive directly to the museum. DoD ID holders may enter through the main gate and drive to the museum. Visitor Center: (707) 424-6732; museum: (707) 424-8180. Confirm current hours, access and weather-related closures before travel.
