Troll Satellite Station

Troll Satellite Station (TrollSat) is KSAT’s operational commercial satellite ground station co-located with Norway’s Troll research station at Jutulsessen in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica. At roughly 72° south, it provides southern-hemisphere access to polar-orbiting spacecraft for satellite command, telemetry, tracking, and Earth-observation data reception; NASA lists its S/X-band Near Space Network complex with 7.3-metre assets, and ESA identifies the Galileo ground sensor station at Troll as hosted by Kongsberg Satellite. This is controlled Antarctic infrastructure rather than a general visitor destination: access depends on approved operator or research-station logistics and Antarctic environmental and safety rules, so no routine public access should be assumed.
