Uchinoura Space Center

JAXA Uchinoura Space Center in Kimotsuki, Kagoshima, was established in 1962 and remains a launch and satellite-tracking facility for sounding rockets and scientific spacecraft. Its antennas receive mission data, while the on-site Space Science Reference Center displays rocket and satellite models, scientific instruments and experiment materials. JAXA’s visitor guidance lists free exhibits open from 08:30 to 16:30, with closures for launch dates and periodic special-cleaning days; only exterior views of experiment-site facilities are available, and the public observation deck may be partly restricted on launch days. Free public parking is nearby. Wheelchairs and strollers are allowed outdoors but not in buildings; food and pets are not permitted.
