Usuda Deep Space Center

JAXA’s Usuda Deep Space Center in Saku, Nagano, established in 1984, sends commands to deep-space probes and receives observation data through its 64-metre parabolic antenna and supporting communications systems. Its free public exhibition explains the antenna and includes a 5.5-billionths-scale solar-system model along the route between the entrance and other buildings. JAXA’s current visitor guidance lists exhibition access 10:00–16:00; winter closure may run from mid-November to mid-April, so verify the current calendar before traveling. Contact: +81-267-81-1230. Free parking serves about 12 cars and two large vehicles by arrangement; wheelchairs and strollers can enter the exhibition hall, with one free loan wheelchair available.
