Vandenberg Space Force Base

Vandenberg Space Force Base is the U.S. Space Force’s Western Range and West Coast launch/test base, with roots in Camp Cooke established in 1941. Space Launch Delta 30 supports polar-orbit launches, missile testing, tracking, and national-security, scientific and commercial space missions. Public access is controlled: the Visitor Control Center is not open to the general public, base tours are currently unavailable, and it does not publish upcoming launch times. The Visitor Control Center is at 6 California Blvd outside the Santa Maria Gate; current base guidance lists hours Monday-Friday 06:00-18:00, closed Saturday, Sunday and federal holidays, with phone (805) 606-7663. Visitors 18 and older need a valid installation pass, and REAL ID, sponsor and foreign-visitor procedures may apply. The Space and Missile Technology Center (SAMTEC) and the SLC-10 National Historic Landmark use appointment-based or scheduled access; current 2026 windows and closures are published by the base.
