The Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array is NRAO’s 27-antenna radio interferometer on the Plains of San Agustin, about 50 miles west of Socorro, New Mexico. Its Visitor Center and self-guided outdoor walking tour are open to the public daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM; advance admission is encouraged because site connectivity is limited. Admission includes current exhibits and, when scheduled, a staff-guided tour. There is no on-site food, the site is at 7,000 feet, and winter weather or afternoon thunderstorms can affect access. Part of the walking route is wheelchair accessible; check NRAO’s visitor page for current conditions.
