Very Large Array Visitor Center

Very Large Array Visitor Center is the public gateway to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory’s Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array on New Mexico’s Plains of San Agustin. Ticketed admission is currently available 09:00–16:00 daily and includes the visitor center’s documentary and current radio-astronomy exhibits, an outdoor self-guided walk to a giant dish, and guided tours when scheduled. NRAO recommends buying admission in advance because cellular connectivity is limited; current prices are $10 for adults ages 13–64, $8 for seniors, military and veterans, and free for ages 12 and under. Education and special-interest groups of 10 or more can request private guided programs at least three weeks ahead. No one may remain on site after 16:00 without prior authorization. The remote 7,000-foot site has no food service, and weather can affect access; the walking route is partly paved and partly vehicle-accessible. Confirm current hours, tour dates, weather and admission guidance before travel.
