Vidsel Test Range

FMV Vidsel Test Range in northern Sweden is the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration’s operational test and evaluation range, with 3,300 km² of restricted ground area and 8,800 km² of restricted airspace. Europe’s largest overland proving ground supports development, capability and operational testing of aircraft, long-range missiles, laser-guided bombs, ground-based air defense, artillery and electronic-warfare systems, plus flight training and combat-readiness exercises. Its instrumented range includes tracking radars, optical systems, telemetry, flight termination, GPS-jamming and target systems, with a military airbase, runway, hangars and support infrastructure.
