Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station

NOAA's Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station (WCDAS) at 35663 Chincoteague Road, Wallops Island, Virginia, is an operational environmental-satellite ground station. NOAA describes continuous acquisition, processing and distribution of satellite data, spacecraft command and tracking support, and independent emergency operating capability for the national weather and environmental-satellite system. The site includes 26 m, 18 m, 16.4 m, 14.2 m, 13 m, 8 m, 7.2 m and smaller antenna systems spanning VHF, UHF, L, S and X bands. NASA lists Wallops Ground Station as a government Near Space Network asset. WCDAS is a separate operational NOAA site within the broader Wallops area, not the public Wallops Visitor Center.
