Woomera Test Range is the Air Force Test Ranges Squadron’s operational range within Australia’s Woomera Range Complex in South Australia. The Woomera Prohibited Area and restricted airspace support directed Defence testing of war materiel, guided weapons, explosive ordnance, ground and air systems, uncrewed systems and other trials; WTR provides instrumented air-weapons, demolition, live-fire and target ranges, while RAAF Base Woomera supplies airfield, hangar, technical and village support. Current 2026 activities include Australian-made GMLRS and missile-defence trials at WTR. This is a controlled defence range, not a general visitor attraction; access, airspace entry and landing approvals are required, and exclusion periods can close areas and roads. Check current Defence notices before travel. Facility reference: Woomera, South Australia, Australia.
