Xinglong Observatory

Xinglong Observatory, part of the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC), is a major optical-astronomy base in Hebei established in the 1960s and described by NAOC as Asia’s largest optical observation base. The site hosts LAMOST, the 2.16-metre telescope and other optical and infrared instruments; LAMOST’s 4-metre clear aperture and 4,000-fiber spectroscopic system make it a globally significant survey facility. Its national science-outreach and education role includes public astronomy activities, student training and visits, while research operations continue.
