The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency Advanced Land Observing Satellite-4 (ALOS-4), nicknamed DAICHI-4, is an active Earth-observation mission launched on 1 July 2024. Its PALSAR-3 phased-array L-band synthetic-aperture radar and ship-identification receiver provide high-resolution, broad-swath, day-and-night, all-weather observations for disaster areas, forests, sea ice, and maritime monitoring.
