ATV-2 Johannes Kepler

The second ATV mission launched on 16 February 2011 and docked with the International Space Station on 24 February. Johannes Kepler delivered dry cargo, gases, and propellant and provided major orbit-raising support, lifting the station by more than 40 kilometres during its stay. It used the rendezvous procedures demonstrated by Jules Verne without repeating the first mission’s full demonstration campaign. After undocking on 20 June, controllers performed an unplanned debris-avoidance manoeuvre before the final deorbit sequence. Controlled reentry on 21 June 2011 concluded the flight and disposed of station waste.
