Chang'e 4
Chang'e 4 is represented here as the integrated far-side lunar exploration campaign, combining the Queqiao communications relay with the lander and Yutu-2 rover. The relay and the lander-rover spacecraft used separate launches; the lander-rover launched in December 2018. On 3 January 2019, the pair made the first soft landing on the Moon's far side, in Von Karman crater within the South Pole-Aitken Basin. Queqiao enabled communications with Earth. The science campaign investigates the terrain, mineral composition, shallow subsurface and radiation environment, with low-frequency radio observations.
