Biomass is an ESA Earth Explorer mission designed to measure forest structure, woody biomass, and stored carbon with the first fully polarimetric P-band synthetic-aperture radar flown for systematic Earth observation. Vega-C placed the Airbus-built satellite into a 666-kilometre Sun-synchronous orbit for a planned mission of at least five years.
