Expedition 18 was a 2008-2009 International Space Station increment commanded by Michael Fincke. Fincke and Yury Lonchakov launched on Soyuz TMA-13 in October 2008, while Gregory Chamitoff, Sandra Magnus, and Koichi Wakata rotated through the third flight-engineer seat via Shuttle missions. NASA describes the expedition's work as including human health research, fire-suppression studies, air monitoring, station operations, visiting cargo and Shuttle traffic, and two Russian-segment EVAs by Fincke and Lonchakov.
