Expedition 2 was the second long-duration crewed mission aboard the International Space Station. Yury Usachov, Susan Helms, and James Voss launched on STS-102 in March 2001 and took over from Expedition 1 during the first ISS crew exchange. During their stay the crew expanded early station research, continued outfitting the Destiny laboratory, supported visiting Shuttle assembly flights, and prepared systems needed for the growing orbital complex. NASA records the expedition launch on March 8, 2001 and landing on August 22, 2001. The mission also included a short internal spacewalk by Usachov and Voss on June 8, 2001 as part of early station operations.
