Expedition 44 was a 2015 International Space Station increment commanded by Roscosmos cosmonaut Gennady Padalka. The crew continued the Kelly-Kornienko one-year mission, recovered from the SpaceX CRS-7 launch failure by relying on subsequent Progress resupply, captured Japan's Kounotori 5 cargo vehicle, and supported research in human physiology, plant growth, materials, and Earth observation.
