Expedition 9 was a long-duration International Space Station increment flown by Gennady Padalka and Michael Fincke. The crew launched from Baikonur on Soyuz TMA-4 in April 2004, arrived at the station with ESA astronaut Andre Kuipers, and took over the orbiting laboratory after Expedition 8 departed. NASA lists Padalka as commander and Fincke as flight engineer; the increment focused on station operations, microgravity research, Earth observation, and four Russian-segment spacewalks by Padalka and Fincke.
