EXPRESS was a recoverable satellite mission launched on 1995-01-15 aboard M-3SII-8 from Uchinoura to demonstrate flexible space-environment experiments, industrial-utilization technologies, and reentry and recovery. A second-stage malfunction prevented the planned orbit; the capsule reentered on 1995-01-16, was recovered in Ghana ten months later, and post-recovery analysis produced thermal, instrument, and flight data.
