Danuri, the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter, is the Republic of Korea's first mission beyond Earth orbit. KARI's spacecraft followed a fuel-saving ballistic lunar transfer before entering polar lunar orbit in December 2022. Its six-instrument payload combines five Korean investigations with NASA's ShadowCam, a highly light-sensitive camera designed to study permanently shadowed polar terrain and potential ice deposits.
