FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2

FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 is a Taiwan–United States six-satellite mission launched on June 25, 2019 to provide dense radio-occultation observations in the tropics and subtropics. Its JPL-developed Tri-GNSS Radio-occultation System tracks navigation signals for atmospheric and ionospheric sounding. Radio Frequency Beacon and Ion Velocity Meter payloads add space-weather measurements. Low-inclination orbits emphasize lower latitudes, complementing the earlier COSMIC-1 constellation’s more global coverage. UCAR processes and distributes neutral-atmosphere and space-weather products through separate near-real-time and post-processing streams for operational forecasting and research.
