NASA's Galaxy Evolution Explorer was a wide-field ultraviolet space telescope that surveyed galaxies across much of cosmic history. Its far- and near-ultraviolet observations mapped star formation, supported studies of galaxy evolution, and created a durable ultraviolet archive covering most of the sky.
