NASA and ESA's Hubble Space Telescope is a serviceable ultraviolet, visible-light, and near-infrared observatory in low Earth orbit. Discovery carried it on STS-31 in 1990, and five later shuttle missions repaired and upgraded the telescope. Goddard operates the spacecraft while the Space Telescope Science Institute conducts its science operations.
