INTEGRAL was ESA's international gamma-ray astronomy mission, combining coded-mask imaging and high-resolution spectroscopy with simultaneous X-ray and optical monitoring of the energetic universe.
Destination
Highly elliptical Earth orbit with an approximately 66-hour period; before the 2015 orbit-lowering maneuver, about 13,000 km perigee and 153,000 km apogee, providing long uninterrupted observations of gamma-ray bursts, supernovae, black holes, and other violent cosmic sources across gamma-ray, X-ray, and visible wavelengths

Outcome
INTEGRAL completed more than two decades of gamma-ray, X-ray, and visible-light observations; ESA ended science operations in February 2025 while spacecraft monitoring continued toward eventual reentry.
