Luna 26 is a planned Russian polar lunar orbiter for global stereo mapping, studies of the Moon’s surface composition and internal structure, measurements of the plasma environment, and communications relay support for later Luna landers. The Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences lists the mission in launch preparation for 2028 from Vostochny Cosmodrome, with a Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle currently identified as the expected launcher.
